“Baby we were born to run”... Towards a 2023 Bruce Springsteen Tour
By Intern Blogger Lara Barg
“The Boss”, also known as Bruce Springsteen, has won 20 Grammys, created 340 songs, sold millions of albums and now is getting ready to embark on his first upcoming tour since 2017. Springsteen and the E Street Band will be making stops in the United States and Europe in the following year starting February 1st, rocking out in countries such as Ireland, Italy, Sweden, Denmark and many more. America currently has 31 tour dates and Europe has 27 as of July 2022. The tour has been incredibly well received with over one million tickets sold in Europe and additional European tour dates added in Oslo, Dublin, Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Gothenburg and Hockenheim to the originally planned stops (Bruce Springsteen). With his most recent albums “Western Stars” and “Letter to You” selling thousands of units nationally Springsteen says that “the tour would be a mixture of classics and selections from his newer albums” (Rolling Stones).
If you don’t know who Bruce Springsteen is, here’s a quick summary of his legacy: Springsteen’s first chart hit was in 1975 with his third studio album, “Born to Run”. After this his career took off, making album after album with E Street Band, until parting with them in 1989. But he couldn’t stay away too long from the band, making a comeback album with them in 2002 (Biography). Since then he has made numerous albums with the band, been on Broadway, SNL and has been rewarded with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by former President Barack Obama (Biography). If unaware of the members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group, the E Street Band, it is composed of Roy Bittan on piano, Nils Lofgren, Patti Scialfa and Stevie Van Zandt on guitar and vocals, Gary Tallent on bass guitar, Max Weinburg on drums, Soozie Tyrell on violin, guitar and vocals, Jake Clemons on saxophone and Charlie Giordano on keyboard (NBC News).
The tour was originally planned for 2020, but was delayed due to the pandemic, making its triumphant arrival in 2023. European tickets went on sale earlier this year, but U.S. tickets will be available to buy on July 20th at 10 AM Eastern Time, so Springsteen fans make sure to get them quick!
