The newly inaugurated president of the United States – Joseph Biden, celebrated his 78th birthday in November 2020, making him the oldest person to gain control of the White House.
It is said that the finest of wines taste better with age, and Biden may be a perfect representation of that. Despite being the most recent Commander of the U.S. Armed Forces, he boasts of enormous achievements that qualify him perfectly for the job; at the same time, he has shown a great deal of appeal to the youth, exhibiting a fine blend of experience and youthfulness at heart.
As a left-leaning politician, he has been vocal about his policies that appeal greatly to the younger generation - despite being born in the silent generation. He has shown concerns regarding climate change and the activities of Americans towards global warming. He is a major proponent of the “Green New Deal,” a popular idea amongst Generation Z and the Millennials, who have long advocated for the widespread promotion of renewable energy that will not further deplete the ozone layer.
He is also a proponent of free college education for all, aiming to forgive students’ loan debt and allow the Millennials to lead a debt-free life.
By channeling this blend of youthful ideas into his vision for America, Biden – a man from the silent generation - has become popular amongst the younger generation, amassing a huge number of votes from the younger generation compared to Trump.

Distribution Of The U.S. voters by age in the 2020 presidential elections (NBC)
65 percent of Generation Z voted for Biden compared to Trump’s 31 percent; this shows Biden’s influence on America’s younger citizens.
Despite breaking Reagan’s record to be the oldest person ever to hold a presidential office in the United States, Biden has shown that age is just a number, and he can connect with the younger populace on a fair level.
Biden’s hearty policies that make him well aligned with the youth, do not make him naïve or inexperienced in thinking. Quite the contrary, he has been an active member in the United States political scene for about 50 years, sponsoring 42 enacted bills during a healthy 36-year stint in the U.S. Senate, chairing the Senate Judiciary Committee, and representing the country’s best interests in foreign matters.
As the vice-president, he kept handling the country’s diplomatic issues, among other economic and citizen welfare responsibilities. In truth, Biden is the oldest ever to grace the seat; however, he also boasts of fresh ideas, which are appealing to the 21st century, while having a bank of experience to actualize these policies.
He is old, yet he is new.
